ATM placement proposal checklist for business owners

Before comparing an ATM revenue split, establish who owns the equipment, supplies the cash and responds when service stops. A proposal is useful when those responsibilities are written down. Use this checklist to prepare a location enquiry and compare the answers on the same basis.

Describe the location with evidence

Record the business type, opening hours, town and approximate customer activity. Separate observed requests for cash from an estimate of potential ATM users. A busy entrance does not automatically create withdrawal demand. Nearby cash access, purchase types and the hours customers visit can all change the case for placement.

Prepare a simple floor sketch showing the proposed machine position and customer route. Note whether the property owner must approve installation. Identify available power and connectivity without promising they satisfy an operator’s requirements. Share photographs through an agreed channel after the initial enquiry rather than publishing sensitive security information.

Compare ownership and managed placement

Ask whether the operator supplies the machine or expects you to purchase it. Identify who pays for delivery, installation, communications, repair visits and eventual removal. Obtain the proposed term and termination procedure. A lower initial bill can still leave the location with ongoing obligations.

Request the exact revenue-share calculation in writing. Ask which transactions qualify, how reversals are treated and when statements and payments arrive. For a purchase, compare the machine price with the complete operating budget. Equipment ownership is different from a full-service arrangement and deserves a separate evaluation.

Make cash loading and support explicit

Name the party responsible for replenishment, balancing, access credentials and discrepancies. Ask what happens on weekends and during staff absence. Establish how a fault is reported, who receives it and what the operator commits to do. Avoid relying on an informal statement that support is included.

Accessibility also belongs in the site review. The U.S. Access Board identifies requirements involving floor space, reach, controls, privacy, speech output and other ATM features. Have the responsible provider assess the complete installation; a machine specification alone does not describe the surrounding space.

Prepare an enquiry that can be answered

Use ATMRite’s existing form to provide the business type, location, hours and whether you prefer ownership or managed placement. Explain what you know about demand and what remains uncertain. Do not submit bank credentials, identity documents or a detailed cash schedule.

Request a written outline of eligibility, responsibilities, pricing and next steps. ATMRite’s planning materials are not a placement approval or guaranteed income offer. Provider availability, proposed relationships and contractual commitments should be confirmed for the particular location before any agreement is accepted.
